Feeling is just as difficult as sinning -- especially after sinning.
To further think about it could only make this feeling worse. This feeling.. Guilt, I assume.
Plenty would rather avoid self-torture; being self-conscious. They might not be aware that they'll only suffer longer by choosing to put aside confrontation of oneself; their sins -- the people they sinned against.
